Project 52 | Week 37 | Perspective
Posted on September 23, 2011
Wow, we’re really trucking our way through this project. Perspective is our theme this week. That can be interpreted so many different ways. I chose to show that no matter how tough your day is, things really get put into perspective reading bedtime stories to your babies (yes I said babies and they’ll never be any different
) The stress rolls away and the little nuisances don’t matter anymore. It really is one of my favorite times of the day. Everyone is usually calm, well I guess that depends on your perspective as well
! And I love reading the stories, except that my 5 year old constantly interrupts asking questions and adding to the story and telling his own stories! I wonder who gets all that taking from?
(I have bought him wordless books so he can tell his own story but he’d rather interrupt my stories) But they are really sweet at this time and they usually get a little philosophical. Nothing like a kid’s words and sweet innocence to put things into perspective.
Next in our circle is Nicole Lubin, Baltimore Photographer. Follow along to see what she has this week. Follow all the links in the circle until you end up here then head on over to the Everything Bloom blog!
Project 52 | Week 34 | Brave
Posted on September 2, 2011
Well this week I’ve decided to use an older photograph. Not because I couldn’t take one, but because the theme lends itself to something specific in my life right now. My best friend Amanda and her husband Ray are expecting a baby boy in October. Her last pregnancy her 20 week ultrasound brought news that was a bit unexpected. They were told that the baby girl Amanda was carrying would have a double, complete cleft. They handled it with grace and style knowing it was something that could be handled. And when she was born, they got a surprise. It was only a single cleft and her palate was completely formed! Yay! When Amanda’s went in for her 20 week ultrasound with her current pregnancy there were really no concerns on their part. God had already given them what they can handle, right? Well, maybe not. Amanda and Ray received the news that the baby boy she is carrying (Augustus) has Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease or ARPKD. The chances of an infant surviving the pregnancy are not usually very good. The doctors didn’t expect baby Gus to make it past 25 weeks. But everything had been going fine until last week when her amniotic fluid had decreased and his kidneys had enlarged. They sent her home to wait until her appointment this week, expecting the worst. When she went in this week her fluid level had not changed, nor had his kidneys! This is a good thing! Nothing was worse and every day he remains right where he is gives him that much more of a fighting change to take on this disease! They are both handling this with so much grace as well. They have faith and know things will be as meant to be. So, my friends, THIS is a fantastic example of BRAVE.
We have a pretty small circle this week. There are 8 other photographers from The Bloom Forum participating in our circle. You’ll want to check out what Lubbock Photographer, Misty Setzler has in store! And we’d love for you to check out all the fun on the Everything Bloom blog. Have a great weekend!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing my handsome dad and his beautiful bride-to-be. We got some fantastic images on my grandparent’s creek. My dad grew up on this creek so it’s a special place to him. The wedding was this weekend so those pics will be coming soon.
Project 52 | Week 32 | Nostalgia
Posted on August 19, 2011
Our theme this week for my 52 on Fridays Project is Nostalgia! I decided this week would be the perfect time to pay homage to the Dear Photograph project and “take a picture of the past in the present”. Have you seen it? It’s really amazing and very nostalgic. I really need to print some of myself as a kid and take them with me when I visit my grandparent’s home! What a great project to bring about great memories
These were both taken with my iPhone. This is my now 8 year old son, Caden, when he was around 3 years old. I always did love his chubby cheeks, which are no more
.
Next up in our circle is Baltimore Maryland Photographer, Nicole Lubin. We have a pretty small circle this week so you’ll want to follow all the links. And when you’re done hop on over to Everything Bloom to see what all the other groups are doing. Check back next week and I’ll post pics from my dad’s engagement and wedding!
Project 52 | Independence | Week 26
Posted on July 8, 2011
And I’m back for 52 on Fridays. This week our theme is Independence. I originally intended my post to relate to Independence Day. But after going on vacation with the kids, I realized how fiercely independence they are becoming. This is such a bittersweet thing for me. We raise our kids to be independent but when they start becoming independent, it is a little sad. I sat and watched my kids play cards together, play with life long friends (and tell secrets to each other), and shoot a rifle for the first time (first for my 5yo). It was really an eye opening week for me. The days are long but the years are short.
**YUM, SMORES***
Please don’t stop here. Follow our circle around to all the wonderful photographers to see their interpretations of this week’s theme. Next up is Jenn Duguay, Valleyview Alberta Photographer. Then you’ll want to hope on over to Everything Bloom blog and you see what all the other groups are doing this week. Then if you want to join the fun of Bloom check out The Bloom Forum.
